Posted on September 16, 2019 at 7:17 pm by Clay Curtin

Residents and businesses can safely dispose of electronic waste and help prevent identity theft by shredding sensitive documents at the City’s popular free shredding and e-waste event from 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, September 21, 2019, at the City Corporation Yard located at 333 Burgess Drive.

Confidential document destruction includes items such as receipts, checks, pre-approved credit applications, credit card statements, outdated tax returns, pre-printed envelopes, return address labels and business cards. Participants are limited to three boxes (10" x 12" x 15") per vehicle and materials will be shredded on-site so participants can watch their documents being destroyed. Documents with paper clips, staples and binder clips are acceptable.

Electronics accepted for recycling include televisions, computer monitors, personal computers, DVD players, printers, scanners, radios, video game consoles, cellular phones and batteries. A limit of five fluorescent tubes/bulbs per resident/business will be accepted.

Motorists and bicyclists are advised to use caution while traveling through the area, especially near Laurel Street and Burgess Drive.
