“Rethink Recycling” poster contest launches for 3-5 graders

Posted on November 26, 2018 at 6:26 pm by Clay Curtin

RethinkWaste is calling on all 3rd-5th grade students in its service area, including Menlo Park, to show off their artistic talent in our 2018 Rethink Recycling Holiday Edition Poster Contest. Students are asked to create a poster with the theme of "Rethink Recycling for the Holidays."

How do you actively rethink recycling during the holiday season? Do you practice the 4Rs of reducing, reusing, recycling and rot (composting)? Using the 4Rs helps conserve resources and keeps materials out of the landfill. Show us what you are doing to help rethink recycling and all the R's during the holidays.

The posters must be 8.5 x 14 inches (legal size) and any medium can be used, including paint, markers, crayons, colored pencils. Posters must be 2D and delivered flat. Bright, rich colors are encouraged. Only one entry per student will be accepted, and posters must include original artwork only.

The first place winner will have their poster enlarged and displayed and used on such items as the side of Recology San Mateo County’s residential collection vehicle in their City, at RethinkWaste’s Shoreway Environmental Center in San Carlos, and on RethinkWaste’s website, newsletters and other educational materials.
