Ten watercolors showing Menlo Park scenes by local artist Rachel Bentley recently underwent restoration by Kathleen Orlenko Conservation. The delicate watercolors were restored and are now housed in archival storage. Color facsimiles of each piece were made and have been beautifully framed for display together in the Great Room of the library. The last touch will be a placard that is being developed by the Menlo Park Historical Association telling the story of Rachel Bentley and her work recording the scenes of old Menlo Park. Each of the watercolors will also have a small plaque identifying the locale.
The watercolors are:
- Church of the Nativity
- Edgar Mills Mansion
- First Central School
- Holy Trinity Episcopal Chapel
- Loveland Post Office
- Menlo Park Hotel
- Oak Grove Villa Hotel
- Old Public School
- Roach Blacksmith Shop
- Southern Pacific RR Depot
