Field crews in the Public Works department recently receive a uniform makeover to enhance safety and better identify them as City employees. The new lime green work shirts are rated by the American National Standards Institute as Class 3, which offers the greatest conspicuity and reflectivity. Previous orange shirts required separate safety vests be worn over the uniform, but the new lime green shirts can be worn alone and stand out against the orange stationary objects in a work zone such as cones, barricades, and equipment. The new uniforms are worn by all members of the Public Works maintenance staff.
