Recent programs in the Library and Community Services departments have been showing fantastic growth in attendance. In December, the Library presented the Montclair Women’s Big Band which brought 329 attendees to listen and enjoy a 90-minute set by 17 talented musicians. January 3rd was the 1st Saturday Program of the year and it featured a Jack Benny impersonator who drew a crowd of 149, three times the normal participant count. In the Community Services Department, spring session classes are at capacity with waiting lists for several, including new classes such as the musical theater classes (for tots, kids, and young teens), personal finance for parents, and a new cardio/strength combo class. The holiday showing of Elf at the PAC saw a full house, complete with requests for making it an annual event and birthday parties at the Arrillaga Family Recreation Center and Gymnastics Center continue to be booked several months in advance. Wedding reservations are already pushing into next fall as the spring and summer dates are nearly gone! The growth in the program attendance is an indicator that both departments are hitting the mark of presenting great programs that appeal to residents.
