On Thursday, May 10, 2018, almost 100,000 riders from around the Bay Area took part in the 24th Annual Bike to Work Day. Volunteers at energizer stations in Menlo Park and the Bay Area cheered and fueled the participating riders. There were energizer stations at the Caltrain Station, Willow Place Bike Bridge, Mike Harding Bicycle and Pedestrian Bridge (San Mateo Drive), Ringwood Avenue Bike Bridge, Tarlton Properties, Facebook, Stanford Health Care and Stanford SLAC Recreation.
Cycling continues to grow a following throughout the region. For the five City-sponsored energizer stations, 1,244 bikers were tallied in 2018, an 18.6 percent increase from the 1,013 riders in 2017.
The fun doesn’t have to end with Bike to Work Day, as the rest of May is National Bike Month. Looking for a way to incorporate more riding in your daily routine and not sure where to begin?
