The Community Development Department has lost a valuable member of its team. Pennie Ortiz-Foster, one of the three building inspectors, resigned effective December 31, 2014, to accept a position with the City of Reno. Her absence, in addition to a high level of activity during the first week of January, has resulted in up to one week of delay between a request for an inspection and the completion of the inspection. In response, the Building division has added daily inspections and adjusted inspection times to meet urgent needs and complete as many inspections as possible. The division is also in the process of interviewing possible contract inspectors to fill the void during the recruitment process, which is expected to take several months.
