On December 16, 2019, Facebook submitted its proposal for exploring the funding and development of a new multi-generational community center and library at the current Onetta Harris Community Center, Menlo Park Senior Center and Belle Haven Youth Center (child care), near Kelly Park.

On Feb. 25, 2020, the City Council approved the interim service levels with notes and additional comments, appropriated $1 million to fund the interim services over a 30 month period that includes the construction period, waived purchasing requirements and agreed to hold 24-hour noticed special meetings in order to consider and approve necessary contracts related to interim services in excess of $75,000.

Next steps


City staff is now exploring options for facilities to provide the interim services during construction.

The project team continues to meet with current facility users to get additional feedback on interim services and design aspects of the proposed new facility.
