Menlo Aikijujitsu

Bushin Ryu Aikijujitsu is a martial art system based on the dynamic techniques common to both Jujitsu and Aikido focusing on techniques and strategies for self-defense. Kids & Adult Kungfu

This class introduces children and adults to the basic movement principles of traditional Chinese martial arts. Progressive learning will build strength, flexibility, coordination and self-confidence. In addition to the class fee, students are required to maintain annual membership in the North American Tang Shou Tao Association (adults=$100; youth under 18=$50). Traditional Karatedo – Seiwakai Silicon Valley

(Ages 8+)
Participants learn traditional Karate from Okinawa Japan, focusing on kata, self-defense, sport kumite, awareness, sportsmanship, athletics and personal well-being. With the inclusion of Karate in the Olympics, training adopts the aerobic and coordination science of the U.S. Olympic committee while following the standards of the Japan Karate Federation. Students may participate in local, regional and international competitions and have the opportunity to train in Japan and international seminars with the instructor. One time drop-in to try the class is welcome - $20. 

Registration notes: Additional fee for national, international membership and testing however memberships nor test participation is not required. Additional fee for training equipment such (white Karate uniform / Do-gi) not included. White Do-gi is suggested for participants wishing to continue training.

Adult Tennis Novice

(Ages 15+)
A common question for many new players is where to begin with lessons and classes, and the United States Tennis Association (USTA) offers ratings for courses to help you decide what might be right for you. This course is rated a 2.5–3.0, which means after the course, you’ll be able to judge where the ball is going and you’ll be able to tackle a short rally with players that have the same basic ability.

Learn to Sew Zippered Bags

(Ages 12+)
Do you know how to use your sewing machine and want to try some new projects? In this class we will make two styles of 8” x 10” bags. These bags are lined and are great for travel, storing supplies or giving as gifts. You will learn how to work with zippers, and we will complete 2 bags during the class. These bags are a great way to get learn how to sew with zippers. Once you understand the basics of how to make the bags you can adjust the size as you wish. You will need know how to use a sewing machine (thread the machine, load the bobbin and how to do straight stitching). A supply list will be provided one week before the class date. Sewing machines are available for rental for $5 from the instructor. Kits with all supplies (fabric, fusible fleece, zippers and fusible seam tape) to make 4 bags (2 in class and 2 later) will be available from the instructor for $20. Group Strength Training

Lisa returns with her most popular class! This workout is carefully designed to strengthen all major muscles of the upper body, lower body and core using body weight, free weights and a variety of other equipment. Hawaiian Hula

(Ages 18+)
Beginners/Intermediate level. Come and enjoy Hawaiian Hula! It’s a fun form of exercise while you “do the hula.” Students will learn the basic hula footwork and movements, and hand gestures dancing to beautiful Hawaiian mele (song). No handout materials will be available in this course. Students wear comfortable clothing, loose fitting T-shirt and leggings OK (no jeans) or bring your hula pa’u skirt or sarong. No class 10/30.

Morning Vinyasa Flow Yoga

Take 45 minutes out of your busy day to come and practice a vinyasa flow that will enable you to mindfully integrate movement and breath. A series of traditional Sun Salutations, standing postures and meditation will be emphasized in this practice. Modifications will be given, allowing the student to choose a more beginning or more advanced practice according to their needs; suitable for all levels. Menlo Park Chorus

Join your friends and neighbors and have fun singing in the Menlo Park Chorus! We are a community choral organization. The chorus rehearses and performs a wide variety of music. As our skills and repertoire expand, we focus on the sheer enjoyment of singing. The ability to read music is not required nor is any previous singing experience. The audition process is painless and stress free. The Menlo Park Chorus prepares music for at least two concerts per year.

Joint Point ◊ Forever Fit

(Ages 18+)
This class has beginnings as an experimental “posture class” for dancers. Marianne Crowder taught it for over 50 years in the community and eventually called it “Mariantics.” This is a “no pain, no sweat” exercise form, with roots in modern dance and liberally sprinkled with exercises designed to correct bad posture and its negative effects. Of course, the muscles are involved, but this class is not about strength training or building aerobic capacity – it is all about joint health and feeling really good! Cyndi Jung, longtime student and admirer of founder Marianne Crowder, has been teaching since 2009. $10 one-time drop-in fee. For more information, call 650-678-5487.

Taiji (Tai Chi) Chuan

(Ages 18+)
Taiji Chuan, is an internal martial art that cultivates power and relaxation. The Chen style encompasses both hard and soft aspects of taiji. Practice strengthens the core and improves posture and balance. Learn the original Old Frame form from which all Taiji Chuan originated. The beginning class will focus on learning fundamentals such as correct posture and moving from the center. Push hands and weapons such as sword, spear and Guan Dao are covered in the intermediate class.

Middle Eastern Belly Dancing

Balkan Folk Dance

(Ages 18+)
Learn a repertoire of lively dances from North Macedonia, Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, Romania, Greece and Hungary. Internationally known teachers Martin Frost or Todd Wagner will provide instruction to participants with some dance experience. Information about customs, history and costume is also presented. Palomanians Folk Dance

(Ages 18+)
This class offers the opportunity to learn dances from around the world: Europe, Asia and the Americas. All levels of dance are offered, from beginner to advanced. The complexity of dances increases through the evening, with appropriate level of teaching based on the evening’s attendees. Class begins at 7 p.m. with warmup and introductory dances. Beginners and experienced dancers will feel right at home and have fun. Both partner and non-partner dances will be presented, however, you do not need a partner to attend. Need exercise?
