Youth Advisory Committee

The Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) advises the Parks and Recreation Commission on activities, events and programs for Menlo Park youth.

The YAC consists of a maximum of 12 high school students who serve minimum one-year terms from September to May. Students enrolling in grades 9 -12 and who live in Menlo Park city limits are eligible to apply for the 2020-2021 term.

The YAC will meet one to two times per month on Thursdays 6-7:30 p.m. during the school year. Meetings are currently being held virtually.

2021 Youth Poetry Contest

Calling young poets! The Menlo Park Library's poetry contest for children and teens is open for entries from grades 2 to 12. Submissions are due online by 9 p.m., Monday, May 17.

Students must go to school or live in Menlo Park. All entries must be original works. Due to COVID-19 guidelines, paper format entries will not be accepted at this time. Interested students can submit online via our online entry form. The judging panel will choose and notify winners a week before the Youth Poetry Contest virtual event scheduled for Friday, May 28.
