Transportation plans guide the development and evaluation of potential modifications to the City's street network. The City is currently preparing a comprehensive transportation master plan to identify goals, priority projects, and an implementation plan for projects. The master plan will consolidate other, previously prepared plans into a central document. Until such time the master plan is adopted, the previously adopted plans are described below.
The Circulation Element of the City's General Plan provides the overarching goals, policies and programs for the Transportation Division. Within downtown Menlo Park, the El Camino Real/Downtown Specific Plan provides a more refined circulation plan for the Specific Plan area.
Additionally, the City has plans to identify the bicycle and sidewalk networks. In 2005, City adopted a comprehensive bicycle development plan that provides a blueprint for making cycling an integral part of daily life in Menlo Park.
In 2009, a sidewalk master plan was developed to identify gaps in the existing sidewalk network and prioritize sections for sidewalk installation.
