to Child Care RFP Process updates
At its March 28, 2006 meeting, Council
considered a range of strategies to include in the 2006-07
Budget to address the Citys projected budget shortfall.
At this meeting, Council discussed the possibility of outsourcing
the provision of child care services as a way to reduce the
cost of these services to the Citys General Fund. On
April 19, the City Council directed staff to issue a child
care Request for Proposals (RFP) in order to determine whether
there were viable alternatives for the provision of Burgess-based
child care services and what the savings to the City might
be. On May 16, staff provided a Status
Report to Council.
A Child
Care RFP Review Committee has
been established to provide input into the RFP process. The
tentative schedule for Committee meetings is to the left.
The meetings are open to the public and will be held at the
Burgess Recreation Center Fireside Room.
The RFP
was sent out in mid-June and was due back on July 26, 2006.
A bidders conference was held on June 28. Three proposals
were received, including one from the City and two from private
entities. One of the entries was deemed unqualified. The proposal
from the remaining private entity has been withdrawn. Consequently,
the process has effectively been ended.
