Project History:
In the summer and fall of 2000 the
City of Menlo Park held a series of public meetings to discuss
traffic and related issues on Santa Cruz Ave. As a result
of those meetings the City Council authorized two projects,
short-term and long-term improvements.
- The short-term improvements were
finalized in June 2002 with final evaluation scheduled for
January 2003
- Long-term improvements to address
pedestrian, traffic and landscaping needs is currently being
launched.
Long-Term Project Description:
This project will design and implement
long-term improvements to Santa Cruz Avenue from University
Avenue to Oakdell Avenue.
Potential improvements being considered:
- Sidewalks
- Curb extensions and median islands
- Landscaping
- Bike lanes
- Traffic signals
- Lighted crosswalks
- Utilities undergrounding
- On-street parking
Public feedback will be considered
in the final design.
Current Status:
- The City has hired the consulting
firm of Rajappan & Meyer to assist staff in preparing
a conceptual design and identifying potential funding sources.
- A design review committee has been
formed consisting of interested residents, staff members,
commissioners and council members.
