A new conceptual plan for improvements at Kelly Park is presented to the community and the Parks
and Recreation Commission. The new plan, "Plan D," is based on comments received at the Commission's
February meeting as well as discussions with representatives of the Alpine/West Menlo Little League and the non-profit organization
EPATT.
The features of Plan D include a multi-purpose, artificial turf field that can accommodate an adult sized soccer field, a football field, and a lacrosse field.
The field can also be used for softball and baseball; however, a permanent backstop, pitcher's mound, or base setup will not be included.
Other features of the plan include
a rubberized running track around the perimeter of the field, bleacher seating that overlooks the track and field, two new tennis
courts, and one multi-use court that can be used for basketball or tennis. Also included are new lighting fixtures, new restrooms, and additional parking.
The total estimated cost for the plan is $4.4 million, which includes the costs of environmental study, final design, construction, and maintenance equipment.
The Commission voted unanimously to approve the plan for recommendation to Council.
