Residential Hazardous Waste

Door-To-Door Service
Proper disposal of hazardous items such as aerosol cans (non empty), automotive fluids, batteries, cleaners, fluorescents (compact and tubes), insecticides, paint, solvents and thinner is easy with the Door to Door Hazardous Waste Collection Service available to homes and apartments. No prescription drugs are accepted click here for information on proper disposal. Follow these three steps for Door-To-Door Service:

1. Call 800-HHW-PKUP or email atyourdoor@wm.com
   
   
2. Receive your Collection Kit in the mail

3. Place items on the curb by 7 a.m. on the collection day

County Appointment Based Drop-Off
The appointment based drop-off system for hazardous waste disposal has limited availability. Contact the San Mateo County Department of Environmental Health at (650) 363-4718 (24 hours a day) to schedule an appointment.
