The proper disposal method for commercial hazardous waste is based upon the volume of hazardous waste generated per month.
Less than 100 kilograms (200 lbs. or 27 gallons) a month:
A Very Small Quantity Generator (VSQG) is any business that generates less than 100 kilograms (200 lbs. or 27 gallons) of hazardous waste per month, and may use the County's appointment based disposal system to discard of hazardous substances. Charges for disposal start from $1.25 per gallon for most waste types, for more information call San Mateo County at 650.372.6200.
More than 100 kilograms (200 lbs. or 27 gallons) a month:
Look for a hazardous waste hauler in the yellow pages or visit the San Mateo County Department of Environmental Health's website for a list of companies that provide this service.
